Traffic is still being detoured on the 401 near Trenton after a fiery crash in the westbound lanes last evening. Just before 6 o’clock, 2 tractor trailers, both heading west, collided with both landing in the ditch, and catching fire. Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says one driver suffered burns to his feet, and the other was shaken up. Both went to Trenton Hospital for treatment. Chief Whalen says debris from the trucks was strewn along the highway for 500 yards. One of the trucks was loaded with compressed lumber, and the other carried plastic toys, making the fire a very hot one. Chief Whalen estimates the damage at half a million dollars.
