A 28-year-old man has died at the Belleville Hospital after an incident at the Norris Whitney Bridge.
Police and firefighters responded at 12-50 this morning after two fishermen noticed a man in the Bay of Quinte hanging onto a cement pier on the north side of the bridge.
He was rescued and taken to hospital by ambulance, but it appears he went into cardiac arrest while being treated, and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
A port mortem will be held in Toronto to determine the cause of death, and the investigation has been taken over by the Police Criminal Investigations Division.
