A shrinking labour force has caused a drop in the unemployment rate in Hastings County and other parts of eastern ontario.
Statistics Canada says the number of people working or looking for work in Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox and Addington, Frontenac and Renfrew Counties fell by 28-hundred to 212.6-thousand last month.
The number of unemployed went down by 22-hundred, to 18,200, producing an unemployment rate of 7.9 per cent, compared to 8.7 in September.
However, the number of people working also fell by 600, to just over 212-and-a-half thousand.
