The trial of a 16-year-old Warkworth boy, charged with the murder of Michelle Barnoski has been told her death was planned and deliberate.
Crown Attorney David Thompson made that remark in his opening statements to the 12-person jury on the first day of the youth’s trial in Peterborough Superior Court yesterday.
The 16-year-old was 14 when Barnoski was shot eight times in the head and neck in May, 2008, and then buried in her Warkworth backyard.
The trial is expected to last four to six weeks. The boy’s co-accused, 35-year-old Marc Vickers, is also charged with first degree murder, but will be tried at a different time.
