The Hastings-Prince Edward School Board is reporting high student absentee rates again this week, but isn’t alarmed about the number of children missing school.
Attendance started to fall last week because of the H-1-N-1 flu virus, with some schools missing over 10 per cent of their pupils on certain days.
However, School Board spokesperson Kerry Donnell says the numbers are about the same this week, consistent with absentee rates for the seasonal flu when it arrives each fall at local schools.
The board and other local school jurisdictions continue to take precautions to prevent the spread of H-1-N-1 and other illnesses.
