The municipality of Belleville and the local health unit announced the finding last weekend, alerting the public to stay clear of the bay even for recreational activities.
The Hastings and Prince Edward District Health Unit confirms the algae is not considered to be spreading and no related illnesses have been reported.
The blue-green algae first appeared along the Belleville waterfront between Bayside and Point Anne.
