Northumberland-Quinte West M-P Rick Norlock isn’t impressed with the actions of the Liberal-dominated Senate..
A bill would have eliminated the current two-for-one sentencing credit given to those who spend time in jail before conviction, but the Senate justice committee voted to alter it, so instead of convicts receiving a single day off their sentence for every day of pre-sentence time served, they would receive 1.5 days of credit.
Norlock says the Liberals do one thing in the House of Commons, but water it down in the Senate, and he wonders about whether they are just soft on crime .
The full Senate must still vote on the changes.
