A big crowd, including members of the Wellington Dukes and a figure skating club, on hand yesterday, for the official ground breaking ceremony for the 12 million dollar Wellington and District Community Center. Prince Edward/Hastings MP, Daryl Kramp, said there was so much community support for the new building that it was the first application approved in this region for federal and provincial funding support. Meanwhile, the arena portion of the community center will be named the “Essroc arena”. Essroc Cement announced a 225 thousand dollar donation yesterday. So far, 800 thousand of the one and a half million dollar fundraising goal has been raised.
