The incidence of crime in Belleville jumped four percent in the second quarter of this year. The number of crimes increased to one-thousand-921 but the rate at which police cleared them also increased. Inspector Mike Graham told the Police Services Board yesterday this comes from a combination of good luck and good management. He says the department has created a “street team” so that when a problem is identified resources, such as foot patrol or drug team, are re-directed to deal with it.
