Belleville has given builders some breathing space before new development charges will be put in place. Last night City Council agreed with a request from the Quinte Homebuilders Association to a six-month delay in the incease of the fees. Association spokesman Eric DenOuden says the builders felt they couldn’t put an extra 54-hundred dollars onto new houses already priced for the buyers. City all staff will meet with the homebuilders and the public over the winter to analyse the development charges, and the proposed increases, before bringing them back to council.
