Fund-raising is going very well for the new 12 million dollar Wellington Community Center. The goal for community fundraising is 1.5 million dollars, and some 600 thousand of that has already been pledged. Meanwhile, Prince Edward Council has voted 8-to-7 to allow donors to lengthen the terms of their donations to 10 years, from 5, on donations of 75 thousand dollars, or more. Councillor Barry Turpin was among those who didn’t thing a longer donation time would necessarily be a good thing.
People making large donations receive naming rights for 10 years on such things as the main arena, and the walking track.
