Harness racing won’t be coming back to the old Quinte Raceway this year as hoped. President of the Belleville Agricultural Society Doug Rollins was hopeful they could run an 8 race card on the holiday Monday afternoon but says the National Capital Harness racers couldn’t justify coming for the 20 thousand dollar purse. About 40 thousand dollars was needed to entice horsemen from Peterborough and Ottawa to come race at the track…which hasn’t seen action since 2006…and, likely won’t again.
