It was a close vote, 6 to 5, but Quinte West Council has decided to do some extra paving with a windfall of 900 thousand dollars.
A paving tender came in 900 thousand under the budgeted amount, so it was decision time last night.
Staff suggested some extra paving, or suggested paying down 900 thousand dollars of a cost over-run on the Smithfield Overhead Bridge project, instead of borrowing the money.
Council voted to stretch the paving on some of the work already planned.
