Belleville’s Paula Stephanson has completed the drive for five….she finished swimming her fifth great lake at 9:02 last night. Stephanson swam 55-kilometers across Lake Michigan becoming just the second person to swim across all five great lakes. The 30 year old Ottawa teacher says the 25-hour 38-minute swim was gruelling. Stephanson says the toughest parts of the swim were the cold of the overnight and the last four hours when the winds shifted and began pounding her head-on. Kingston’s Vicki Keith is the only other person to swim all 5 Great Lakes.
