Belleville is moving ever closer to taking over land by expropriation in the northeast section of the city. Earlier this summer the city was given the green light to expropriate about 600-acres of land from five landowners. Last night City Council took steps leading to the final takeover in three months. The land is being appraised for pricing right now. Mayor Neil Ellis says this land, adjacent to the northeast industrial park, is important. He says the city lost a company last year because it didn’t have 100-acres of serviced land. It’ll take another three years before the expropriated land will be ready for development.
