A pickup truck sunk in the Trent River in Trenton after a high-speed police chase that started in Belleville. City Police tried to stop a possible impaired driver at Cannifton and McFarland Drive, shortly before 1 o’clock this morning, but the driver of the orange colored pickup truck rammed a police cruiser and took off through the downtown core onto Highway-2 with speeds reaching 160km/h. The truck entered Quinte West and proceeded to drive directly into the Trent River off Ontario Street. The occupant exited on his own and swam to shore while officers watched the truck sink. A 42-year old Frankford man faces numerous charges including impaired driving and failing to stop for police. He’s been released with a September court date.
