The cool summer weather has meant a drop in energy use in the city of Belleville.
Spokesman for Belleville’s electrical utility Veridian, George Armstrong, says residents have been gearing down their power by using less air-conditioning and getting rid of old refrigerators. The peak energy-use day was June 25 at 97-megawatts, down three megawatts from last year’s peak. Meanwhile the results of last Friday’s “County Me In” energy-challenge are expected to be announced at the Association of Municipalities conference tomorrow.
