The whereabouts of a Brighton woman convicted of trafficking in heroin in Pakistan is still a mystery.
Thirty-eight-year-old Deborah Kerr said on May 26th she would be released from prison then..
She served 2 years and four months of a life sentence for trafficking, but her departure from jail was delayed because of paperwork. Kerr was arrested after six kilograms of heroin, which she claims was planted, was found in a container near her luggage at the Islamabad International Airport on February first, 2007.
Kerr called a friend near Brighton on July 18th, claiming she got out of prison that day, but the friend, and apparently Foreign Affairs Canada, haven’t heard from her since then.
