Sea gulls and heavy rain are getting the blame for the ban on swimming at Sandbanks Provincial Park.
The Outlet and Sandbanks beaches were posted after water samples taken on Monday came back with high levels of e-coli bacteria.
Park Superintendent Don Bucholtz says heavy rain on Sunday night washed seagull droppings from the beach into the water, causing the elevated e-coli levels.
The beaches will reopen if more samples, taken this morning, show the water is safe again for swimming.
