As expected….a big turnout at a public meeting in Brighton…expressed overwhleming opposition to a proposed gravel pit in Codrington. About 100 residents told council, last night, they have serious concerns about noise, increased truck traffic and contaminated wells. but, Mayor Chris Herrington assures there won’t be any quick decisions on the proposal by St. Mary’s Cement. St. Mary’s Cement Vice-President John Moroz says the process is in the very early stages but they may be able to make some concessions. Officials say any decision on the quarry could be two or three years away.
