It will be a few more months before federal officials release results of this year’s search for unexploded ordnances at Baldhead Beach, south of Trenton.
An official with the U-X-O and Legacy Sites Program says the agency would like to hold the next official meeting of the Wellers Bay Stakeholders Consultative Group in late November or early December, but will wait until 2010 if necessary.
A surface investigation was held this summer at the beach, which is off limits to the public because of concerns about bombs dropped during practise bombing runs more than fifty years ago.
The Program also wants to meet with someone from the Stakeholders on August seventh at the beach to review areas where public access is most desired. That would occur only one day before the Friends of Weller’s Bay, which wants the beach reopened, holds its annual general meeting.
