The mayor of Stirling-Rawdon Township is backtracking on comments he made about the Public Works Department and the Business Improvement Area.
The B-I-A told council it will no longer participate in events like Canada Day or the Santa Claus Parade if it doesn’t get more support.
Mayor Peter Kooistra regrets saying the B-I-A makes decisions and wants someone else to do the work, adding Public Works is always available to transport equipment needed for functions in downtown Stirling..
He says the Public Works crews can’t be expected to work for several hours on B-I-A events, and are needed for urgent matters like roads, sidewalks, water and wastewater infrastructure.
