The Air Force is realigning its structure by establishing a second air division headquarters to oversee the Canadian Forces Aerospace Warfare Centre at C-F-B Trenton and other military units.
The Chief of Air Staff, Lieutenant-General Angus Watt, says “the creation of 2 Canadian Air Division/Air Force Doctrine and Training Division in Winnipeg will regroup the majority of Air Force training, education and lessons learned functions into one formation, which will allow a better focus on doctrine, training and associated support.
A brigadier-general will command the new unit, which is expected to be operational by this summer. The commander will be responsible for Air Force training establishments at Moose Jaw and Borden, an Air Force Training Centre at Winnipeg, the Air Command Academy at Borden, and, the Aerospace Warfare Centre at Eight Wing.
