The federal Department of Public Works may be turning up the pressure to acquire private land needed for the transfer of a special militry unit to C-F-B Trenton.
A briefing note sent to Defence Minister Peter MacKay, and obtained by Maclean’s magazine, confirms expropriation, as a tool available to the government, is being examined.
The military wants 990 acres of property north of the base, but federal bureaucrats haven’t been able to convince all 12 landowners affected they should sell.
