Tyendinaga Mohawk activist Shawn Brant will remain behind bars for another 53-days…at least. At a bail hearing in Belleville court yesterday Brant “acknowledged” that he breached the terms of his original sentence connected to the demonstration that shutdown train traffic on the C-N line, Highway-2 and Highway 4-0-1 more than a year ago. When he was released early from that sentencing it was on condition that he not take part in such demonstrations. Earlier this month Brant was arrested during a blockade of the Skyway Bridge near Deseronto. So he now must serve the remaining 53-days of the original sentence. Brant will appear in court next month on two charges stemming from the bridge blockade.
