The supervisor the province appointed to oversee Quinte Health Care is surprised two local mayors have questioned the move to close the Special Care Unit at Trenton Memorial Hospital. Graham Scott told our newsroom that the decision was made by the original Q-H-C board on February 25-th and sent to the Local Health Integration Network March 6-th. Scott says it’s “unfortunate” the actual closing date of this Thursday was “leaked” to staff before he could make the announcement on Tuesday (this) afternoon at a meeting of the Q-H-C Advisory Council. Brighton Mayor Chris Herrington, a member of the Trenton Community Health Advisory Group, says she’s disappointed. Quinte West Mayor John Williams says he wants to know why the Special Care Unit is being shut down.
