A Belleville Police officer used pepper spray to defuse an altercation in the downtown early this morning. Two men were fighting on Front Street and after trying to peacefully end the disagreement was forced to use the pepper spray. Both men were arrested. A 31 year old Belleville man was charged with public intoxication, while a 20 year old was released unconditionally.
