Another month, and another increase in the unemployment rate in the Quinte Area and other parts of Eastern Ontario.
Statistics Canada says 9.1 per cent of the labour force didn’t have a job last month, up from 8.9 per cent in April, and 5.9 per cent in May of last year.
Just over 21-thousand people in Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox and Addington, Frontenace and Renfrew Counties were unemployed last month, up by 700 from the month before.
The local unemployment rate of 9.1 per cent is .3 per cent lower than the Ontario rate of 9.4.
