The search for unexploded ordnances near Baldhead Beach, south of Trenton, is only days away from resuming.
The Defence Department’s UXO and Legacy Sites program plans a surface restoration project this month, to identify and remove any ordnances left behind by practice bombing runs in the 1950’s, that may have surfaced over the winter.
A sand dune restoration project, to increase the depth of sand in areas where erosion was caused by wind, water and foot traffic, is scheduled for the fall.
Baldhead Beach has been posted as off limits to visitors for many years, and despite promises it will eventually reopen, there is no time set for that to happen.
