The lockdown continues at Warkworth Institution.
Media was notified of the lockdown around 5:30 last night and prison officials say it’s in the interet of safety and security while an exceptional search for contraband takes place.
All normal operations at the facility have been suspended until the search is finished.
Visits to Warkworth have also been cancelled until the facility reopens when management feels it’s safe to do so.
