In a letter to the court yesterday Belleville businessman James Sinclair said he “regretted his attitude toward the ministry of environment,” but blamed much of it on stress caused by the media. The letter was submitted during his sentencing on 15-environmental charges.
Sinclair said it was “inflammatory articles in the Intelligencer newspaper and the radio” and two overlapping trials regarding the contaminated site that caused his stress. He said he had been attending meditation workshops in Arizona. As he was entering the courtroom Sinclair pushed a Global television producer Erika Tucker in the back, almost knocking her over. Sinclair left the court, handcuffed in police escort, after Justice John Doran sentenced him to a total of ten months in jail…he’ll serve four months concurrently…and fined him and his companies 692-thousand dollars.
