Some changes could negatively affect the Service Canada computer centre in Belleville. Five such centres acaross Canada, dealing with employment insurance, are being consolidated into two, in Montreal and Moncton. Although government sources say the 200-or so employees will not be affected, Prince Edward Hastings M-P Daryl Kramp says he’s concerned and is taking a close look at the issue. Kramp says he has asked for an explanation from the cabinet minister responsible. Meanwhile an Ottawa-based Public Service Alliance spokesperson told our newsroom she understands it will only be equipment that is moved, and employees will be able to work from their same locations.
