Belleville’s new fire masterplan contains an 8-million dollar price tag for capital investments in the next few years, big increases in operating costs and a plan for the next twenty years. Fire Chief Ray Chaput says the main fire hall on Moira Street West was built in 1951 and needs to be replaced. He say the fire service hasn’t changed since 1969 and the city has certianly changed in the last 40 years. The masterplan includes 16 additional career firefighters and 10 more volunteer and a new fire station on Adam Street near the Quinte Sports Centre.
