Join us every Monday night at QSWC for Teen Recreational Volleyball. $3/visit. Simply visit the customer service desk to register and pay as you play. This is a just for fun pick-up game and is a great way to get some extra game play practice in. Ages 12-17.

Come be part of the Knitterati! Belleville Public Library's social knitting circle "Knitterati" will return in January 2018. Bring your knitting, crochet, or other fibre craft project to this free drop-in program on the second floor of the library to work as a group, chat, and meet other knitters! Just starting out and need a little help casting on? Don’t worry; your fellow knitters will be there to give you a hand or offer advice. The program is held every other Tuesday evening from 5:30-7:30pm, Jan. 9-June, 26 on the second floor. No registration required.

International Women's Day

International Women’s Day is March 8th. This year, the Belleville International Women’s Day Committee is pleased to welcome Cyndy Baskin of Ryerson University. Ms. Baskin will speak about the historical roles of Indigenous women prior to European contact, how colonization shattered their identities through the Indian Act, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action in terms of violence towards Indigenous women. On March 8th, join us at 4:30 at the Library for the annual Women’s Day March through downtown, followed by refreshments and social hour at 5:00, and a talk by Ms. Baskin at 6:00 pm!

RED CROSS YOUTH LEADER CERTIFICATION

Youth Leaders support the Red Cross Youth First Aid Program through the delivery of the Stay Safe! and Babysitting courses. With the required prerequisites, candidates enter into this comprehensive Youth Leader Program, to prepare them to teach, facilitate and support dynamic, learner-centered classroom environments. This course consists of online learning modules (5-7 hours) and upon completion of this training, candidates must then successfully complete a teaching experience in a Red Cross Youth First Aid Program.

Prerequisites: 16 years of age and hold a current Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’ certificate

This course is designed for youth 11-15 years old to learn first aid and caregiving skills for children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. Students will receive a manual, and upon successful completion a wallet card and certificate. Students are asked to bring a pen, lunch, beverages and a doll or teddy bear for diapering.

A Cello Duo Concert

VC² (Bryan Holt & Amahl Arulanandam) is an eclectic cello duo based in Toronto. They are going to give a concert at St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Belleville on Sunday, March 18th, as part of “Music at St. Thomas’.” The programme is centered around pieces written by cellists, for cellists. It will feature works by Bernhard Romberg (a life long colleague of Beethoven's), Friedrich August Kummer, Julius Klengel, Jean-Baptiste Barrière, David Popper, and Luigi Boccherini. Come hear the many capabilities of the cello - times 2!

The concert will start at 4:30 PM. A reception will follow during which light refreshments will be served.
