RED CROSS BABYSITTING COURSE

This course is designed for youth 11-15 years old to learn first aid and caregiving skills for children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. Students will receive a manual, and upon successful completion a wallet card and certificate. Students are asked to bring a pen, lunch, beverages and a doll or teddy bear for diapering.

United Way Hastings & Prince Edward's Achievement Breakfast

Our community is generous both with their time and their donations. After pulling together to raise money for over 75 local programs, we have a lot of people to thank! The Achievement Breakfast is just one way that we can honour those community members that have worked tirelessly on our behalf. We present exemplary awards for titles like Volunteer of the Year and recognize workplaces that have gone above and beyond in their employee giving campaigns. The Achievement Breakfast receives a lot of media attention as it is the official announcement of the amount of money raised in the 2017 campaign.

Keynote Speaker: As our Achievement Keynote Speaker, we are excited to welcome Retired Master Corporal Denise Hepburn. A four time Bronze Medalist (swimming) at the 2017 Invictus Games, Denise will share the story story of courage and perseverance.

Clarinet & Bassoon Duo Concert

Clarinetist François Laurin-Burgess and bassoonist Antoine Saint-Onge will present a duo concert at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church in Belleville on Sunday afternoon, January 21st, as part of “Music at St. Thomas’.” “We do not own a grand piano or any piano suitable to give concerts,” says music director Francine Nguyen-Savaria. “This forces us to think outside the box when it comes to programmes. There is so much beautiful repertoire, and venturing into less popular instrumental combinations allows us to offer a special concert experience.” The programme will feature works by Bach, Beethoven, Poulenc and Koechlin.

The concert will start at 4:30 PM. A reception will follow during which light refreshments will be served.

Have you taken one of our computer classes but feel like you could use more practice? Or maybe you need a little help coming up with ways to keep those computer skills fresh? Come join us for our confidence-building drop-in group sessions. Work on your surfing skills with our Internet scavenger hunt, work with Facebook, practice moving, copying or deleting files " from a desktop or a USB -- all this and more in a supportive environment with zero fear of “screwing up”. Each week will focus on a new topic. Every other Wed. starting January 10 from 10-11 am.

Hawthorn Herbals

If you are interested in alternative remedies, Hawthorn Herbals’ Tamara Segal will be at the Belleville Public Library on Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 to give a talk entitled, “Herbs, Health, and the Elements.” She will discuss the various ways in which the four elements (Fire, Earth, Air & Water) manifest within both the body in various states of health, and within the herbs and foods available to us for balance and restoration. The presentation will offer a special focus on the local, wild and easily accessible herbs and foods in our region. Ms. Segal is a Registered Herbalist with the Ontario Herbalists Association. No registration is required.

The Unveiled Bridal Show is happening on January 28th at the Travel Lodge. Brides will receive a Bridal Bag while supplies last.
