Brain Food for Kids

This program will provide FREE nutritional snacks to children of all ages every Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 10:15-11:00 throughout the summer months. The Food for Learning Foundation recognizes that when children are provided with proper nutrition, there is an impact on their cognition, behaviour and academic performance and we would like to know that children in our community are able to continue with the same opportunities for learning and social development while not in school.

A huge thank you goes out to the Friends of the Stirling Library and to the Food for Learning Foundation for making this happen.

3rd Annual Canal Pursuit for Mental Health

Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) invites Canadians to again support the Defeat Depression Campaign through donations and sponsorship as Clay Williams leads the Canal Pursuit for Mental Health run relay from Port Severn to Kingston and all the way to Ottawa. The purpose is to raise funds and awareness of depression, end the stigma of mental illness, and to encourage people to reach out for help. Clay has organized this run relay in honor of his wife, his daughter and his sister who all suffer from mood disorders, and in memory of his two older brothers who took their own lives. The relay is a 750 km run along the Trent Severn Canal from Port Severn to Trenton and then the Rideau Canal from Kingston to Ottawa, stopping in at each of the 88 locks on the way. This year, the runners will start on August 25th and complete the route in 8 days, running 100 km per day in 10 km long segments, and finishing on September 1st, 2017 at Parliament Hill, going through Belleville on August 29th.
