Hastings County has announced the start of the public consultation process for its draft official plan.
The purpose of updating the official plan is to guide growth and change in communities and implement policies relating to infrastructure and protect natural resources.
Director of Planning and Development Justin Harrow says one of the new requirements regards woodlands.

Harrow says the idea is to direct growth to urban areas but also near water in rural areas.
Hastings county will hold the following four public open houses on the official plan:
Monday, August 28, 2017 from 9:30 am – 12 pm at the Hastings Highlands Municipal Building, 33011 Hwy 62 North, Maynooth
Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 3 – 5 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Dungannon Recreational Centre 26596 Hwy 62, L’Amable
Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 3 – 5 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Township of Tyendinaga Rec. Centre, 363 McFarlane Rd, RR1, Shannonville
Tuesday, September 5, 2017 3 – 5 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Township of Madoc Municipal Hall, 15651 Hwy 62, Madoc
Copies of the Draft plan are available at the Hastings County administration office or online on the new Hastings County webpage at www.hastingscounty.com.
