Belleville Police was on hand to break up a domestic dispute Saturday night.
At 6 p.m., officers attended at a residence on Dundas St. East, where a man and woman were arguing.
Police discovered that at one point in the argument, the man picked up a hammer and threatened the woman.
The Belleville man, who is in his 50s, was charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm, breach of undertaking and in possession of a dangerous weapon.
He is being held for a bail hearing on Monday.
There were no injuries.
