The Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed that the bodies of two occupants of an older two storey wood frame house on Telephone Road north of Colborne were found after an early morning fire today (Sunday).
Fire broke out around at 4 this morning at the home at 1300 Telephone Road in the Township of Alnwick Haldimand, just north of the 401.
The fire destroyed the home.
Northumberland News reports the couple that lived in the house were in their 80s.
The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, local fire investigators, and the OPP continue to investigate.
Names of the deceased haven’t been released pending notification of next of kin.
Alnwick Haldimand and Township of Cramahe firefighters fought the fire. Brighton, Trent Hills, and Hamilton Township fire departments provided standby manpower and equipment.
