UPDATED: $125,000 in damage after Trenton Golf Club fire

UPDATED @ 1:45 p.m.: The fire chief in Quinte West says damages to facilities at Trenton Golf Club is estimated around $125,000 after a Wednesday morning fire, which was determined to be accidental.

Flames broke out in a garage building, used to store golf carts and other equipment, around 8:15 a.m.

Fire Chief John Whelan tells Quinte News the compressor of a freezer in the building sparked the flames, which destroyed golf carts and other equipment, amounting to about $100,000 in damages.

The clubhouse next door suffered about $25,000 of smoke damage.

Whelan says nobody was injured in the blaze.

Fast response by Quinte West firefighters limited damage Wednesday morning at the Trenton Golf Club.

The cart storage garage next to another storage shed was heavily damaged.

The nearby clubhouse was not damaged.

No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
