A Picton man has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a hit and run in Belleville Saturday night.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., Belleville Police attended the intersection of Donald Street and North Front Street.

They investigated and discovered that a vehicle driving on North Front Street had collided with another vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign on Donald Street, then fled eastbound.

Shortly afterwards, police located a vehicle matching the description with fresh damage on Station Street.

A 27-year-old man faces charges of failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

He was also issued a three-day license suspension.

His vehicle was towed and he was given a Provincial Offences court date to answer to the traffic charges.

No injuries were reported.
