Two major reconstruction projects for Belleville streets, slated for this year, have been put over to 2018.
The two projects in the city’s east end ran into snags regarding negotiations with other agencies and acquiring some property.
Director of Engineering Rob Bovay says in the case of reconstruction of Herchimer Avenue from Dundas to the Bayshore, which will include a multi-purpose trail, it involved negotiations with CP Rail.
The new trail will run on the east side of Herchimer, from Dundas Street to connect up with the Bayshore Trail at the waterfront.
The extension of Haig Road and Station streets involve acquiring property to realign Station and get provincial approval for sanitary sewer facilities.
Bovay says the decision to wait until the spring of 2018 is to avoid getting only part of the project done before winter.
