There’s some good news for members of the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Quinte West today.

MP Neil Ellis has announced $25,000 in funding for Branch 110, to start up a new, weekly, senior’s support networking gathering.

The get-together will be aimed at single or widowed seniors and will see them plan menus, cook and eat together each week, to increase social participation and inclusion.

The money comes from the federal New Horizons for Seniors program, which is contributing $35 million into 1,850 community-based projects through 2017, chosen through a call for proposals process.
