The health unit which oversees Northumberland County is launching a new program, which is designed to help during an overdose.
It is called the Naloxone Kit Distribution Program, and the drug is used on a person who overdoses while using opioids.
Spokesperson Shawn Woods says Naloxone can help combat drugs such as heroin, oxycodone, morphine or fentanyl.
Woods says it will be available in hospitals, for paramedics, health care providers, or drug users and typically works within five minutes.
