The budget process is underway in Stirling-Rawdon and after just one meeting, things already aren’t looking good as far as a tax hike goes.
Mayor Rodney Cooney tells Quinte News the municipality is facing some major provincial budget cutbacks this year, which have been on the way for some time.
Cooney says at this point, they need to cut $400,000 from last year’s $3.4 million financial plan and residents should expect a tax hike in the 10% range.
Cooney says in the past two years alone the province has pulled back $1.1 million dollars in financial help.
