Seven people have been arrested as part of a major three month drug investigation, put together jointly by area police forces.
OPP, Belleville City, and Tyendinaga Mohawk Police were all involved in the investigation, which concluded with raids and arrests last Friday.
First, a man believed to be involved in the drug trade, was stopped by Tyendinaga Mohawk Police and found with $5,000 worth of illegal prescription drugs.
Twenty-nine-year-old David Branigan of Belleville is charged with theft of gas and trafficking hydromorph contin.
About ten minutes later, officers raided a home on Dundas Street in Deseronto where they found more pills and weapons and arrested five more people.
Fifty-one-year-old Christopher Howe of Deseronto was charged with three total counts of trafficking, two counts of possessing a prohibited device and a count of possession of property obtained by crime.
Thirty-one-year-old Wesley Roberts of Deseronto is charged with possession and breaching probation, 28-year-old Stephen Lalonde of Deseronto is charged with possession, 29-year-old Jordan Raithby of Deseronto is charged with driving while disqualified, possession and breaching probation and 44-year-old Robert Huffman of Deseronto is charged with possession.
Police also executed warrants in Marlbank and Belleville, where they arrested 66-year-old Laverne Armstrong of Belleville.
They’re charged with two counts of possession and the investigation is continuing.
