Twenty-seven property owners in South Marysburg have filed a $14m (million) lawsuit against 47 others and the Whitepines Wind Farm development.
In the Statement of Claim, the plainiffs say they’re suffering from aggravation, anguish and mental distress because of not being able to sell their property, and the worry over possible negative health effects from wind turbines.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the coin, this from a man being sued…….”I’m devastated..I’m in my 70′s, and am physically disabled, and there are other people being sued who are much older then me, people in their 90′s. This lawsuit is causing real anguish.”
South Marysburg councillor Barb Proctor has said she’s disturbed that the wind turbine problem has been brought to this kind of level in such a small community.

Unfortunately this is the inevitable result of this divisive issue. People who bought/live in homes next to farms signed up for cows, pigs, horses, sheep, grains and corn. NOT 48 storey eyesores – the very mention of which – sends potential property buyers elsewhere as fast as their cars will carry them. What is sadder is that the sales job done on these elderly land owners probably included lots of “don’t worry no one will sue” and “if they do, we’ll look after you”. Of course, now, because of the suit, their properties cannot be sold!! Thank you Dalton for hobbling municipalities under your so-called “Greed Energy Act”.
I guess these land owners working with the windmill company trying to make a quick buck at the expense of their neighbours are not so happy when the tables are turned!
What about all the citiot’s that are trying to make a big buck on there properties?
Almost without exception, those opposed to wind turbines in Prince Edward are relatively wealthy retirees. This is especially evident when you see the location of the anti wind signs that have sprouted up around the county.
The people they are suing are small farmers/landowners whose property has been in their family for generations. Most of these have never provided a great living. The wind turbines provide an opportunity for an income that will enable them to enjoy their property and a decent retirement.
The lawsuit is nothing more than bullying by those who have the resources against those with less income, resources and influence. A classic Lord Black play.
Very well said Jim. No truer words Were never spoken
Absolutely right Jim.
