A former foster parent in Prince Edward County has been sentenced to jail.
The 71 year old man, found guilty on charges of sexual assault and other charges involving 2 teenaged girls a few years ago, was sentenced this morning to 9 years in jail.
The unidentified man ran foster homes in Wellington and Bloomfield.
Along with the 9 year prison sentence, the man, who still cannot be identified, faces a weapons prohibition and must be part of a sex offender database, and can have no contact with the victims.
The man has appealed the conviction and sentence, and could have a bail hearing as early as this afternoon via video from the Napanee Detention Center.
It’s possible he could be released from jail after the hearing while the appeals process gets underway.

How is a convicted pedophile walking free until sentencing, never mind during the appeal? Am I missing something? This creep was convicted. hold him during his appeal, I have children in the community and don’t want this guy walking free. This is a travesty if he is released pending his appeal!
