A recent survey of businesses in Cramahe Township shows that most have a “positive attitude” despite tough economic times.
About 30% of the businesses responded to the Retention and Expansion survey which was aimed at challenges facing the commercial sector, mostly in downtown Colborne.
Mayor Marc Coombs says council will do its part by helping direct businesses to funding opportunities.
A meeting has been scheduled for September to bring together commercial companies and representatives of the Northumberland Advisory Centre regarding possible grants.
Mayor Coombs says council itself will also apply for funding to undertake a strategic plan for the township.
