Change coming to arena management in Madoc

In a letter, Madoc Township council is asking that Centre Hastings take over complete responsibility for the operation of the arena.

Madoc Township believes, since the building is owned by Centre Hastings, and arena workers are employees of Centre Hastings that it’s time it withdrew from the management of the facility.

Madoc Township council is offering to continue some unknown financial contribution toward the operating costs of the arena until 2014.

Meanwhile, Centre Hastings council is unimpressed with Madoc Township’s letter.  Both Reeve Owen Ketcheson and Deputy Reeve Tom Simpson said talks had better start soon on a formal, written agreement with the Township on a cost sharing formula for the arena, involving operating, and capital costs.
